Is de Gaulle buried at Les Invalides?

Why Colombey
Because he had written it down, long in advance, in terms that left no room for manoeuvre: a funeral without official ceremony, without music, without speeches, in his village cemetery, beside his daughter Anne. The Republic followed that text to the letter in 1970. It is an explicit refusal of the Panthéon and of any national mausoleum — including this one.
What the Historial is
An audiovisual route built around archives, film and documents, which asks you to sit down and take your time: you do not skim it in ten minutes. Allow a good half hour, and do it while you are still fresh. The burials that really are under the Dôme are on the burials page.
