How it works

The booking links and availability modules on this site point to GetYourGuide, a platform that sells tours and activities. They carry a partner identifier. If you book after following one, GetYourGuide passes this site a percentage of the booking. What you see on GetYourGuide is identical whether you arrive from here or from anywhere else. The photographs in the homepage gallery lead to the same booking link as the main button: that is stated here rather than hidden.

What that changes in what I write

Nothing in the facts, and I try to let it change nothing in the tone. The ratings and review counts shown are GetYourGuide visitors’, not mine, and I reproduce no quotation attributed to a first name. The review pages are written before a link is added, and they say what disappoints: the Paris Museum Pass has the lowest average in the selection and is useless to anyone visiting only Les Invalides; the Napoleon walk has an excellent rating on very few reviews, and I refuse to call that a consensus.

Above all, a good deal of what I recommend earns me nothing: the great courtyard, the moats and the Saint-Louis cathedral are free to enter, and I mention them on nearly every page. No operator pays me, reads these pages, or decides what goes on them.

What this site does not do

It sells nothing itself, handles no payment and sees no data from your booking. It shows no prices: prices change, and the only figure that counts is today’s, on the booking page. Nor does it say “book now” when there is no need: there is no timed entry at Les Invalides, a significant share of visitors get in free, and the what-it-costs page sets out the categories.
